WNBA Best Bets Today: New York Liberty vs. Las Vegas Aces

A bad second half kept the Liberty from covering and winning Game 1 of the WNBA Finals outright. New York led 49-46 at the break but was outscored 53-33 in the second half. Despite the bad finish, we are still looking to back New York.

We're going with Liberty +5.5 (-110) at BetMGM. The Aces are due for negative shooting regression after making 35 of 64 shot attempts (55%) and 9 off 22 from 3 (41%). Las Vegas' guards made 11 of 12 shots from the field and 4 for 4 from 3 while being contested by Sabrina Ionescu or Courtney Vandersloot, and neither of those shooting numbers is sustainable or reliable in the future.

The offense wasn't the issue for New York. New York made 47% of their shots and nine 3s, but there is still room for positive shooting regression. The Liberty's starters combined to make just 4 of 20 from 3-point range. We don't expect these shooting trends to continue on either side, so we like the Liberty getting the points here in a prime bounce-back spot.

WNBA Player Prop No. 1: A'ja Wilson Under 21.5 Points

⭐ A'ja Wilson Under 21.5 Points (-110) at bet365

The Las Vegas Aces won going away, earning a 99-82 victory over the Liberty in Game 1. Las Vegas forward A'ja Wilson was solid with 19 points while making 7 of 11 shots, but she did hit the under that we suggested for Game 1, which was posted at 23.5 points. Now, Wilson's point prop is set at two points lower and we are still going to target the under.

We like A'ja Wilson Under 21.5 Points (-110) at bet365. In six games against the Liberty, Wilson has now scored more than 21.5 points just one time. She's had three games where she struggled, scoring just nine points in two of those contests and just 16 in another.

Wilson had solid games where she scored 23 in one contest and was effective with 21 in another. But since she has yet to truly go off against the Liberty, we're going to continue to back her under since it's clear the size of New York's frontcourt doesn't allow her to dominate like she can against other teams.

Recommended Bet: A'ja Wilson Under 21.5 Points (-110) at bet365

WNBA Best Prop No. 2: Jackie Young Under 18.5 Points

⭐ Jackie Young Under 18.5 Points(-130) at FanDuel

It was the Aces guards who dominated against the Liberty. Chelsea Gray, Kelsey Plum and Jackie Young combined for 72 points in the win. It was a breakout game for Young, who had not scored at least 20 points since a Sept. 2 win over the Seattle Storm when she went for 17 points.

Despite the hot start to the WNBA Finals for Young, we're going with Jackie Young Under 18.5 Points(-130) at FanDuel. Sunday was just the second time in Young's last seven games that she made over half of the shots she attempted. Otherwise, it's been a struggle. In the other five games, Young has made just 17 of 58 shots in that span.

There's a strong chance New York adjusts after Game 1 and defends Young and the Aces' perimeter players differently, which would bode well for the under. It's also not time to overreact to Young's total prop since she has only cleared this just twice in her last eight games.
