Most teams wouldn’t call a 10-2 record (6-2 SEC) and Sugar Bowl berth a disappointment. Expectations are different in Tuscaloosa, though, when considering Alabama’s six national titles in the past 13 years. The Tide’s bid for a seventh began going off track after a 52-49 loss to Tennessee on October 15. QB Bryce Young is a big reason for the 41.4 points in scoring per game. Young has had a strong campaign with 3,007 passing yards, 27 passing TDs, and five interceptions.

Jahmyr Gibbs leads a balanced Tide running game with 850 rushing yards and seven ground touchdowns. He’s added another 378 yards and three TDs on the receiving end. Jase MccLellan is also important to the run game with 613 rushing yards and six touchdowns.

Martinez, who also has 1,261 passing yards, splits time at QB with Will Howard. The latter has 1,423 passing yards, 15 passing TDs, and two interceptions. They both spread the ball around, with five different wideouts having tallied 378 receiving yards or more.

Defensively, Kansas State holds opposing teams to a respectable 21.8 points per game (27th nationally). It still manages to give up quite a few rushing yards (150.4) and passing yards (223.4). But as the defensive points show, the Wildcats have a nice bend-but-don’t-break defense.
