Harry Maguire Next Club Odds: West Ham Favourites To Sign Former Man Utd Captain
Harry Maguire is no longer Manchester United's club captain and the best betting sites reckon he could now be on his way out of Old Trafford.
The England international confirmed on Sunday that he is no longer the holder of the United armband following talks with Erik ten Hag.
"After discussions with the manager today he has informed me he is changing captain," Maguire wrote on social media.
"He outlined his reasons to me and whilst I’m personally extremely disappointed, I will continue to give my all every time I wear the shirt."
Maguire is now arguably the fourth-choice central defender at United, behind Lisandro Martinez, Raphael Varane and Victor Lindelof.
The time may have come for the former Leicester City stopper to seek pastures new.
Where might Maguire be playing his football next term? Check out the latest odds below, before we run through some of the contenders.
Manchester United's Chances Of Keeping Harry Maguire: Next Club Odds Analysis
Manchester United are open to offers for Maguire, a player who cost them no less than £80m just four years ago.
The Red Devils will not recoup anything like that sort of money for the 30-year-old defender , but they have deemed Maguire expendable as they look to reshape the squad.
Still, there is no guarantee that Maguire will be on the move this summer - indeed, football betting sites price him at just 3/1 to stay put.
His comments above suggest he is still willing to stay and fight for his place, despite having rarely been a regular under Ten Hag.
With Euro 2024 on the horizon, staying at United would represent a risk. But unless he is willing to take a pay cut, Maguire may well end the window in Manchester.
West Ham Take Lead In Harry Maguire Next Club Betting Odds
West Ham are available at odds of 7/2 with Ladbrokes to land Maguire, as David Moyes looks to get his squad ready for the new season.
The Hammers have money to play with after pocketing more than £100m for Declan Rice, but wages could be a problem after Maguire and his United team-mates saw their pay increased after qualifying for the Champions League.
Reports suggest West Ham are exploring a loan proposal, but United would no doubt prefer a straight sale.
That could be a sticking point, but West Ham can at least offer Maguire European football. He could also expect to start week in, week out at the London Stadium provided he performs.
Harry Maguire Transfer Speculation: Tottenham Climbs To Second Spot In Next Club Odds
Tottenham are looking to bolster their squad this summer and centre-back is an area of the pitch that Ange Postecoglou will be especially keen to strengthen following the signings of goalkeeper, Guglielmo Vicario, forward Manor Solomon and attacking midfielder James Maddison.
Maguire can be backed at 5/1 with William Hill to join Spurs, who have been linked with the player in the past.
There were suggestions last month that the north Londoners were weighing up an offer in the hope that signing Maguire could help to convince Harry Kane to stay put.
Although Tottenham will not be competing in Europe in 2023/24, they are perhaps a big enough club for Maguire to consider a move there.
Harry Maguire's Potential Move: Next Club Odds Favour Aston Villa, But Newcastle Lingers
Aston Villa and Newcastle are priced at 10/1 and 12/1 by betting apps to make a move this summer.
Unai Emery has been reunited with Monchi, the sporting director with whom he worked at Sevilla, and Villa are expected to splash the cash this summer as they prepare for Europa Conference League football.
Newcastle had one of the best defensive records in the Premier League last term, but Eddie Howe will still be keen to add more depth at centre-half as his team prepares for the Champions League.
Villa could have one advantage over Newcastle: United would probably not view them as direct rivals, as they would the Magpies.
Harry Maguire Transfer Watch: Examining The Next Club Odds And Possible Suitors
Everton are listed at 16/1 in this market with Ladbrokes, but it is hard to see that move coming off.
The Toffees do not have much money to spend right now and a switch to Goodison Park is unlikely to appeal to Maguire given Everton have been involved in back-to-back relegation battles.
Roma (20/1) signed Chris Smalling from Manchester United, and the Englishman has been one of their most reliable performers in recent years.
It would be interesting to see whether Maguire would welcome the opportunity to play abroad, away from the harsh English spotlight.
Chelsea are also outsiders at 22/1 with Bet365. They already have several centre-backs on the books and there is no indication that they are even considering a bid for Maguire.
