Premier League Predictions Gameweek 12 - Brian McClair On The Panel

Brian McClair's Premier League Picks

Throughout the season, Manchester United and Celtic legend Brian McClair will be giving his predictions for every Premier League game.

In four seasons at Celtic, McClair made 471 appearances in all competitions and scored 127 goals, securing the Scottish Premier League and Scottish FA Cup while finishing as top-scorer for the Hoops on four occasions.

His prolific goalscoring record quickly attracted the attention of clubs south of the border and in 1987, McClair became Alex Ferguson's first signing at Manchester United, going on to win four Premier League titles, two FA Cups and the European Cup Winners' Cup in his 11 years at Old Trafford.

Brian joins The Panel for the 2024/25 Premier League season and will pass expert judgement with his score predictions on all games whilst The Panel team will examine the best football betting sites to find the best odds should his predictions hit the back of the net.

Watch him discuss the games below and keep an eye on how Brian and The Panel get on each week this season.

Arsenal Vs Nottingham Forest, Saturday, 3pm

Arsenal will attempt to reignite their bid for the Premier League title when they host Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

Mikel Arteta’s side are without a league victory since early October and were held to a 1-1 draw with Chelsea before the break, extending their winless run to four league games.

Forest may have lost to Newcastle before the break but remain unbeaten on the road and only Liverpool have claimed more points away from home.

Brian says: “Forest have lost their last four at Arsenal and winless in their last 10, last winning in 1989.

“However, after Forest’s exploits at Anfield in September, I may have put myself in a difficult position with this one.

“It'll be Mikel Arteta's 250th game as manager, the 10th person to have achieved such a figure.

“But he has achieved more wins in those first 250 than anyone else with 146 and I think it will be 147 on Sunday.”

Brian McClair's Panel Pick 1: Arsenal 2-0 Nottingham Forest - 5/1 with Betovo

Man City Vs Tottenham, Saturday, 5.30pm

Both Manchester City and Tottenham are looking to respond to disappointing results last time out in a heavyweight Premier League showdown on Saturday evening.

The 2-1 defeat at Brighton before the international break condemned Pep Guardiola to a fourth consecutive defeat for the first time in his managerial career.

Spurs, who knocked City out of the Carabao Cup with a 2-1 win last month, are also looking to get back on track after losing 2-1 to newly-promoted Ipswich in their last match.

Brian says: “Manchester City have now lost four in a row in all competitions, which is the first time that Pep Guardiola has experienced such a poor run.

“The last time they lost at least four games in a row was under Stuart Pearce, where they eventually lost six, and incredibly, who was the fifth team that they lost to on that run? Spurs!

“However, I don't think that's going to happen and can see City getting back to winning ways on Saturday.”

Brian McClair's Panel Pick 2: Man City 3-1 Tottenham - 17/2 with Betovo

Ipswich Vs Man Utd, Sunday, 4:30pm

The Ruben Amorim era is about to get underway at Manchester United ahead of the return to Premier League action this weekend.

United, despite a poor start to the season, actually entered the international break in reasonably good form as Ruud van Nistelrooy went unbeaten in his four games in interim charge of the first-team and signed off with a 3-0 win over Leicester.

The Tractor Boys are up and running in the league after beating Tottenham 2-1 and former United coach Kieran McKenna would no doubt love to spoil the party.

Brian says: “This is the first meeting between these clubs since 2002, which was a 1-0 away win for United thanks to a goal scored by the recently departed Ruud van Nistelrooy.

“Ipswich managed to secure their first win of the season at Spurs before the international break, despite having only 33% of the possession and three shots at target.

“But I can’t see past a United win on Sunday in Ruben Amorim’s first game in charge.”

Brian McClair's Panel Pick 3: Ipswich 1-2 Man Utd - 13/2 with Betovo
