Tolstoy is of questionable will at times, especially when he’s leaving the stalls, but there’ll come a day when things fall into place for him. A stiff 5f is not something he has had the chance to experience before and if they go hard enough up top, it’s possible he’ll be finishing as quickly as anything else. From a lowly rating of 80 (peaked at 96), the risk is worthwhile at quotes of 9/1 or bigger.

15:00 York – Crazy Luck – 1pt @ 5/1

I backed Crazy Luck when she was second in this last year and hopefully she’ll go one better this time. She certainly looked back to her best at Windsor last month, finishing a neck behind the winner on top of very testing ground. A faster surface will do no harm, she’s still on her last winning mark and this will pan out to suit. Getting 12lbs from the favourite, it’s hard to see how she won’t be involved.

16:45 York – Another Investment – 1pt @ 11/2

Another Investment is only 1-20 but that sole success came here under Jack Mitchell and he’s booked to ride again, something that doesn’t happen often with the yard. The horse is in great form as well, running big races over C&D the last twice, and was unfortunate not to win the first of those. He has a nice draw, the ground will be perfect and they’ll go quick up top. With luck mid-race, he’s a big player.
