Moises Caicedo Next Club Odds: Chelsea Favourites As They Bid For Brighton Star

We are into the final month of the summer transfer window and betting sites continue to tweak their odds based on the latest news.

One man whose future remains undecided as the beginning of the new Premier League season approaches is Moises Caicedo. The Brighton & Hove Albion man may yet seek new pastures before the deadline on September 1, but as of now he remains on the south coast.

Where will Caicedo be playing his football for the majority of the 2023/24 campaign? Check out the latest odds below, before we explore some of the contenders to acquire the Ecuador international.

Chelsea Odds-on Favourites But Deal Not Done Yet

According to the odds supplied by football betting sites, Chelsea are in pole position to sign Caicedo.

It is no secret that the Blues are desperate to add the midfielder to their squad as they attempt to improve on what was a dismal season in 2022/23.

Chelsea could certainly do with more bodies in the middle of the park given that Mason Mount, N’Golo Kante, Jorginho, Mateo Kovacic and Ruben Loftus-Cheek have all left the club since the turn of the year.

The latest reports indicate that Chelsea remain locked in talks with Brighton, but the longer it goes without a deal being done, the more likely it is that another club enters the race and attempts to hijack the move.

For now, though, Chelsea are strong favourites at 1/3

Brighton Confident In Position And Will Not Budge

Brighton refused to budge in the January transfer window when Arsenal tried to land Caicedo to help their Premier League title bid.

On that occasion the Gunners failed to meet the Seagulls’ asking price of £75m, so the 21-year-old ending up staying put and went on to sign a new deal

It is believed that Chelsea have offered up to £80m for Caicedo this summer, but their highest bid was turned down by Brighton.

The south coast side are a well-run club and they will not deviate from their position, even if that means missing out on a windfall.

It therefore remains a possibility that Caicedo will still be a Brighton player after the summer transfer, as odds of 9/4 with Bet365 suggest.

Liverpool Need More Midfield Reinforcements This Month

As you can see from the list above, no other team is currently making a serious effort to challenge Chelsea for the signature of Caicedo. But that could change, particularly if teams like Liverpool are forced to look elsewhere for reinforcements.

The Reds recently lost Jordan Henderson and Fabinho to Saudi Arabia, so they could do with at least one more central midfielder for the 2023/24 season.

Romeo Lavia is at the top of their wish list, but Southampton are driving a hard bargain.

Caicedo would be even more expensive than Lavia, who was a rare bright spot for the Saints last term. That means the Ecuadorian will probably be out of the reach of Liverpool, who are available at 20/1 in this market.

Arsenal Could Yet Renew Interest In Former Target

Arsenal were desperate to land Caicedo in the January window, but they were ultimately priced out of the deal.

Mikel Arteta turned to Jorginho instead, and he has since added Declan Rice and Kai Havertz to his squad at the Emirates Stadium.

As such, Arsenal have drifted to 25/1 with betting apps to land Caicedo. They have been linked with the former Independiente del Valle man at times this summer, but over the last couple of weeks there have been no signs that the Gunners plan to go back in for their former target.

Elsewhere, Bayern Munich are listed at 50/1 to sign Caicedo. This is a long shot for a reason: the German giants are determined to sign Harry Kane from Tottenham and it would be impossible for them to afford both the England captain and Brighton’s midfield star.

Tottenham And Newcastle Among The Outsiders

Tottenham would have money to spend if Kane does join Bayern, and another midfielder would not go amiss.

But whether they would be willing or able to meet Brighton’s demands for Caicedo remains to be seen, hence lengthy odds of 33/1

Ange Postecoglou

Newcastle would have fewer problems affording the asking price, but there has not been any suggestion that they are even mulling over a swoop for the 21-year-old.

Eddie Howe’s side have got the majority of their business done already, with Sandro Tonali set to bolster their midfield following his move from AC Milan.

Odds of 50/1 with William Hill feel accurate given that Newcastle are now looking to improve other areas of their squad.
