$100,000 Donation Marks Parx Casino Shippensburg First Anniversary
It’s been a year since the opening of Parx Shippensburg, the brand’s second casino in Pennsylvania. And what better way to celebrate than with a $100,000 donation to regional non-profit groups?
11 Community Non-Profits Benefit From Donation
It’s hard to forget the spectacular Parx Shippensburg grand opening that took place on February 3, 2023, as gaming enthusiasts flocked to experience the 500 slot machines and 48 table games hosted within the complex.
Now, Parx is paying it forward with this sizeable donation that is set to benefit some of the state’s most hard-working non-profits. In a statement sent out to regional press, the casino operator explained exactly how the donation was being distributed.
- $31,000 to Shippensburg Area Chamber of Commerce
- $15,000 to Vigilant Hose
- $15,000 to Cumberland Valley Community Connections:
- $10,000 to Shippensburg Police Foundation
- $10,000 to Shippensburg EMS
- $5,000 to CV Hose Company
- $5,000 to West End Fire and Rescue
- $2,500 to Christ Among Neighbors
- $2,500 to Shippensburg Produce Outreach
- $2,000 to Shippensburg Meet the Needs
- $2,000 to Circle of Love (Shippensburg)
Director of Diversity and Community Development, Ron Davis, said the measure reflected the company’s focus of sharing its success with the community through annual donations to several charities and non-profit organizations.
The donations were welcomed by Pennsylvania’s community, with the Shippensburg Chamber of Commerce describing the gesture as being one of great support, enabling such organizations to continue offering more services to the Shippensburg community.
Parx Shippensburg Reports Consistent Performance For Its First Year
While mini casinos can’t offer the same range of games as Pennsylvania online casinos can, due to state legislation, this hasn’t hurt Parx Shippensburg’s revenue, with monthly totals since July never dipping under $2.5 million.
The best month recorded by the casino was December with $2.9 million, making up for the months of October and November, which saw the lowest threshold of $2.5 million.
While these figures are significantly lower than those reached by longer-established mini-casinos, company Chief Marketing Officer Marc Oppenheimer appeared confident that the brand is on the right track to compete, with access to some 500,000 players across different communities.
