Rush Street Interactive Confirms It Won’t Introduce Customer Surcharge

Rush Street Interactive (RSI), which operates iGaming in Delaware under its BetRivers brand, announced it will not be following in the footsteps of operators in other states to implement a customer surcharge.

DraftKings made the announcement last week that it plans to add a surcharge to payouts from winning bets in states where there are high tax rates on sports betting (greater than 20 per cent) and multiple operators, starting on Jan. 1, 2025. No word yet whether FanDuel will follow suit.

“As we put our customers first, it was an easy decision for us,” said Richard Schwartz, CEO of RSI.

RSI is an online casino and sports betting company that operates the PlaySugarhouse and RushBet brands, as well as BetRivers, in the U.S., Canada and Latin America.

“RSI remains committed to maintaining its leadership position in the industry by continuously prioritizing the needs and preferences of its players,” Schwartz added. “We believe that RSI’s focus on customer satisfaction, coupled with its innovative rewards and loyalty programs, sets a benchmark for excellence in the online gaming industry.”

In the U.S., other than Delaware casinos, RSI is regulated and operates in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Indiana, Colorado, Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, Virginia, West Virginia, Arizona, New York, Louisiana, Maryland and Ohio.
