Unibet NJ Casino and Sportsbook: North American Operations Cease on May 14
Unibet, a prominent New Jersey online casino and sportsbook is shutting down, and players in the Garden State have until May 14 to withdraw all remaining funds and close out their accounts.
Kindred Group plc, which owns Unibet, operated in the state under the license of Hard Rock Atlantic City.
The stages of closing down the casino and sportsbook started on March 11, with Unibet Casino NJ closing down progressive jackpot games. Then, on April 5, Unibet closed the ability to deposit any funds.
Existing Bonus Terms Before Shutting Down
Also, players have until May 1 to use bonuses and promotions.
Finally, as of May 5, you will no longer be able to wager before the closure on May 14.
On the Unibet website, you’ll find various messages reminding players of the closure, including when bonus funds will expire and the May 14 shutdown date. You can find additional information on the FAQ page.
Unibet requests that you allow 72 hours for withdrawals and waive the minimum withdrawal amount requirements. So, whether you have $0.01 or $1,000 in your account, you can withdraw it now.
This all comes on the heels of Kindred Group plc announcing that Unibet would exit North America in November 2023.
The Move Helps with Group's Savings Efforts
Kindred estimated that by pulling out, they’d save over $50 million. Additionally, 300 employees and consultants will be laid off.
“The cost reduction actions announced today are both necessary and decisive. While it is never a desire to inform valued colleagues of redundancies, this puts us in a stronger position to secure long-term growth for Kindred across our locally regulated core markets. We can now focus our resources and tech capacity towards strategic initiatives and selected markets where we see clear potential to grow our market share”, said Nils Andén, Interim CEO of Kindred Group. He said that in a statement on the Kindred Group website on November 29, 2023.
