How to Read NFL DROY Odds

The NFL DROY odds above indicate the likelihood of an individual player to be named the Defensive Rookie of the Year for the season. NFL DROY odds fluctuate throughout the season based on players' performances, injuries, and other factors.

These odds are presented in the moneyline format.

Negative odds indicate the favorite(s) to win the NFL DROY award. If a player's odds were -150, for example, you would need to bet $150 to win $100. The lower the number, the more heavily favored that player is to win.

Positive odds indicate the underdogs to win the award. If a player's odds were +600 and you bet $100 on that player, you would win $600 if they won.

With no clear-cut favorite, the competition for the DROY award should be fierce. LB Dallas Turner and DE Laiatu Latu are preseason favorites. Based on his impressive play during the preseason, the Ravens' CB Nate Wiggins could be a dark horse candidate.

Other notable NFL DROY trends and facts:

  • 2023 marked the fourth time in NFL history that the Offensive and Defensive Rookies of the Year (Houston's Will Anderson Jr and C.J. Stroud) came from the same team.
  • Since the AFL-NFL merger (1970), only Micah Parsons in 2021 has been voted Defensive Rookie of the Year unanimously.
  • Historically, linebackers have won the award most often, followed by defensive ends.
  •  Lawrence Taylor is the only player to win Defensive Rookie of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year in the same season.
