How to Read Odds to Make the NFL Playoffs
NFL playoff odds represent the likelihood of a team to make it into the postseason. The odds above are shown in American format.
The lower or more negative the number, the more likely it is that the team will qualify for the playoffs according to oddsmakers. Higher numbers or positive odds indicate that a team has a 50% chance (+100) or less of reaching the playoffs.
A positive number also indicates how much you would win on a 1-unit bet. For example, +450 means you would win $450 on a $100 bet.
Conversely, negative odds (e.g., -120) indicate how much you need to bet to win $100. For instance, -120 means you must bet $120 to win $100.
Teams in the NFL Playoff Hunt
Just 14 NFL teams make it to the postseason every year: seven teams from the AFC and seven from the NFC. The winner of each division gets an automatic bid to the playoffs.
