NHL 2023-24 Team Futures
The Vegas Golden Knights took home the Stanley Cup to close the books on the 2022-23 season. So, the futures betting odds already are out for next season.
Looking ahead to the immediate future, draft odds and props are about to get their day in the sun. The offseason is active until about the middle of July.
Before then, let’s take a look at some Stanley Cup futures numbers.
Stanley Cup Odds
Colorado is among the favorites for next season. At DraftKings Sportsbook, Boston is listed as a co-favorite at +800. Then, Caesars Sportsbook comes in with the defending Stanley Cup champions, Vegas, at +700 to repeat.
Among the Canadian teams, Edmonton and Toronto lead the way heading into next season. Both start the offseason at +950 at BetMGM Sportsbook. Expect their numbers to shift between now and October. However, Edmonton is +1200 at Caesars Sportsbook, but Toronto is way down at +1800.
Colorado has the easiest road out of the Western Conference next season at +325 in various sportsbooks. Meanwhile, Boston still has +500 odds to come in first in the Eastern Conference. In the East, Florida has been strong in the Atlantic Division for the past four years, but Tampa Bay, always a powerhouse, advanced three times to the Stanley Cup during that period, as Florida did just this year.
Here's How Other U.S. Teams Stand
There are 25 American teams in the NHL. A few of them are listed above. Going deeper down the lineup of U.S. teams makes sense when looking at betting odds.
Once you get past the top U.S. teams, however, the odds grow longer. The Minnesota Wild and Pittsburgh Penguins stand at +3000 and +3500, respectively. A team like the New York Islanders, which was competitive last season, comes in at +5000 to win the next Stanley Cup.
Which Teams Have The Best Odds?
With Canada not winning the Stanley Cup since 1993, a U.S. team is expected to bring the trophy home again in 2024, an interesting factor to consider for those interested in NHL betting
When looking for good odds, keep the Original Six in mind, which introduces two Canadian teams, Montreal and Toronto, into the mix. Detroit and Chicago have zero chance of coming close to winning in 2024, but Boston and the New York Rangers have a good shot at the Cup.
Since Vegas was a first-time winner, the odds for that happening again have slid down to +400 at many sportsbooks. Other teams, including Seattle, Florida, and Nashville, present attractive opportunities for bettors.
Elsewhere, some pundits question whether Pittsburgh will make the playoffs next season. Out West, San Jose, Anaheim and Los Angeles are questionable.
Division odds may be worth waiting on. Colorado is almost Even to win the Central (+110 via Caesars Sportsbook). Vegas is at +120 in the Pacific Division, but Edmonton, also in the Pacific, is at +260 and is aiming to get revenge by knocking out the Golden Knights. Boston, at +320, has value already in the Atlantic Division.
Trying to pick an American team to win next season's Stanley Cup is a crapshoot, but the New Jersey Devils and New York Rangers stand a good chance of advancing from the Eastern Conference into the Stanley Cup Final.
