NHL Picks: Boston Bruins, Tampa Bay Lightning Clash in Florida
The NHL has 10 games on the Monday night schedule, featuring several U.S. teams that will intrigue bettors.
This Monday version will be concise, so let’s dive in with a surprise or two!
What Went Right Last Weekend
The good news is that we are getting closer to weekend outlooks at Gambling.com. As the NHL schedule gets more involved, so do we.
This weekend, the New Jersey Devils covered the puckline once again on the road. Even the New York Rangers showed up in the clutch during the third period on Saturday. Then the Sunday games were entertaining, tilting toward the Over side of the ledger.
The weekend is over! Let’s get back to work.
Boston Bruins at Tampa Bay Lightning
The crazy aspect of this game is this: The Boston Bruins are 11-0 at home and 16-2 overall.
The Bruins won six straight and nine of their previous 10 games. It does not matter who is in or out of the lineup. Linus Ullmark, David Pastrnak, Patrice Bergeron and company are rolling along.
It is early, but Tampa Bay has been sputtering. Last year was similar, but Andrei Vasilevskiy still does not look quite like himself. His last three starts have been better, as the Russian has yielded just six goals on his last 94 shots faced. However, Boston is coming in with the best offense in the NHL (75 goals).
Despite quite a few injuries, Boston’s defense also ranks tops in the league, yielding a mere 37 goals. Jim Montgomery has this Bruins team playing their absolute best, even when they do not look their best. David Pastrnak leads the way with 11 goals and 28 points in 18 games. Eight other players have 10 or more points, as the balance is remarkable with this team.
Tampa Bay is better than their record. Thankfully, Nikita Kucherov and Steven Stamkos are starting to score again. Once they get Anthony Cirelli back, this team will be even better. For now, Tampa Bay is still formidable at any time. Playing the Bruins may jolt them, and it will be a big measuring stick for the veteran squad.
Tampa Bay in regulation makes some sense at +135.
After that, it is about the line movement and where it roams. Do not bet the moneyline at around even.
Colorado Avalanche at Dallas Stars
The biggest thing with hockey is that we always need to find out when the immovable object meets the irresistible force. Get ready! The Stars’ goaltender Jake Oettinger gets to face the Colorado Avalanche tonight.
Colorado can light up a scoreboard anywhere. Here is the thing: So can Dallas!
Dallas is 11-5-2 on the season and in first place in the Central Division. Also, the Stars have scored 71 goals, which ranks second in the NHL. On the simple rating system, Dallas is third in the league, too. This is far from a fluke, and Colorado has to watch for two, arguably, three scoring lines that can light the lamp at any time.
Both teams are on a roll, as this should elevate the level of play. The Stars and Avalanche know each other well. This may be one of the most challenging games of the week. It appears Alexandar Georgiev will be Oettinger's foe in the opposing net tonight. Georgiev has been one of the league’s best goaltenders this season for the Avalanche.
Hopefully, this game matches the hype. Expect lots of fun and plenty of scoring chances from Dallas. The Stars play differently at home than on the road.
Dallas and Colorado matchups often hit the Over. Aside from last season, their playoff meeting in 2020 featured quite a few goals. Tonight expects to be quite the clash.
