It’s the 242nd Merseyside Derby on Monday in England as Liverpool takes on Everton, with the Reds searching for their 98th win in the fixture. The Toffees go for victory number 67.

Everton has barely managed to get anything out of this derby since the Premier League began in 1992, but just like in 2021, it could see itself getting all three points from Anfield for what would be just the third time in 22 years.

Neither team has much to shout about this season, and here are our picks for Liverpool vs. Everton.

Liverpool to win 3-0

Although Everton looked excellent in Sean Dyche’s first game in charge, derby days in England always throw form out of the window. Everton saw James Tarkowski score the winner against the league leaders Arsenal that day in what was arguably its best win in the Premier League over the past two seasons.

Despite being just the second team this season to beat Arsenal in the league, we expect it to lose here just like it normally does at Anfield.

Since 1999, the Toffees have secured just two victories at the home of their arch-rivals, beating them in 1999 and then again in 2021. Liverpool has gone on to draw or win in all over 14 encounters at Anfield in the Premier League and we expect the same here.

BETTING PICK: Liverpool to win 3-0 is +1000 with FanDuel.

Over 2.5 cards for Everton

Since the Premier League began in 1992, this rivalry has seen more yellow and red cards than any other fixture, with a stunning 23 red cards in the Premier League. Now, with Dyche at the Everton helm, his no-nonsense defensive tactics will likely create a chaotic atmosphere at Anfield.

Earlier in the season at Goodison Park, there were two yellow cards for Everton and two for Liverpool. Quite stunningly at Anfield last season, the Toffees saw five yellow cards as Liverpool received two.

As this game is back at Anfield and off the back of such a sensational win over Arsenal, Everton likely gets quite a few yellow cards once more.

BETTING PICK: Everton to have over 2.5 total team cards is +125 with DraftKings.

Mohamed Salah to Score

It’s been a season to forget for Liverpool and its star player, Mohamed Salah. Despite just seven goals in 20 Premier League matches, Salah still has 17 across all competitions in 31 games this campaign and boasts a solid record against Everton.

After eight games against it, Salah has lost just once and won three games with four goals and one assist. This includes a Puskas Award-winning goal in 2018 against the Toffees following on from his excellent bending shot after weaving his way through the Everton defense.

Salah last scored in the third round FA Cup win over Wolverhampton Wanderers almost three weeks ago, however, but in a Merseyside derby at home and against a team still fighting relegation, he may not get a better chance to break his latest goalscoring duck.

BETTING PICK: Mohamed Salah to score first is +370 with FanDuel.
