Next Celtic Manager Odds: Who Will Replace Brendan Rodgers?

Brendan Rodgers is under pressure at Celtic and the best betting sites have opened a market on who will replace him.

The Hoops fell to a 2-0 defeat by Heart of Midlothian at the weekend, missing the chance to go top of the Scottish Premiership after Rangers slipped up against Motherwell.

Celtic trail their arch-rivals by two points in a title race that could go down to the wire.

The gap separating Rodgers’ team from first place is clearly surmountable, but he has come under scrutiny because Celtic were eight points clear at the turn of the year (albeit Rangers had games in hand).

If the former Liverpool and Leicester City boss does depart, who will replace him in the Parkhead dugout?

Check out the latest betting odds below, followed by our analysis of the situation.

Knutsen Favourite With Marsch In Mix

Kjetil Knutsen is the favourite with football betting sites at Evens.

The Norwegian has been linked with the Celtic job in the past and is likely to be one of the candidates the board looks to interview if there is a vacancy.

Knutsen has guided Bodo/Glimt to three Norwegian titles and, famously, to a 6-1 victory over Jose Mourinho’s Roma in 2021.

Jesse Marsch is also in the mix at 5/2. He has been out of work for around 12 months now after leaving Leeds United.

The American would probably prefer a Premier League job, but the opportunity to manage a club the size of Celtic may prove too hard to turn down.

Keane And Larsson Have Celtic Connections

If Celtic decide they want a manager who knows the club inside out, there would be no better choice than Henrik Larsson.

A bona fide club legend, the Swede can be backed at 3/1 to succeed Rodgers.

The main concern over Larsson is that he has not managed since leaving Helsingborgs five years ago. That could ultimately count against him.

Roy Keane, another former Celtic player, has been out of management for even longer.

The Irishman continues to insist he would love to give it another go, but odds of 6/4 look short given Celtic would presumably want someone who has been in a dugout recently.

However, Keane seems to be back in vogue in the football manager merry-go-round as he is heavily linked with the vacant Sunderland and Republic of Ireland manager roles.

Cooper And Lennon Both Out Of Work

Steve Cooper was linked with the Crystal Palace job before Oliver Glasner’s recent appointment at Selhurst Park

The Welshman is still waiting for the right opportunity after his sacking by Nottingham Forest late last year.

Cooper ticks many of the boxes Celtic would want and he did a fine job at Forest overall. The Welshman is priced at 7/2.

Daniel Farke

It is hard to see Neil Lennon (4/1) being the next Bhoys manager, though.

That would seem like a backwards step, especially as his most recent tenure ended in disappointment three years ago.

Clarke And Robinson Seen As Dark Horses

Steve Clarke is fully focused on Scotland as things stand. He led the country to the European Championship in style and he will now be looking to make an impact in Germany.

Beyond that, who knows. Clarke might welcome the chance to return to the club game after the summer, and Celtic would be wise to consider him.

This punt is available at 11/2 with betting apps, but it relies upon Rodgers remaining in place for the rest of the season.

Stephen Robinson is another option at 5/1. The St Mirren boss has impressed this term, leading his side to fourth place in the Premiership. Celtic would be a massive step up, however.

Moyes And Potter Among The Outsiders

There are five other choices in this market: Ralph Hasenhuttl (8/1), Graham Potter (10/1), Frank Lampard (14/1), David Moyes (20/1) and Scott Brown (33/1).

Of those, Potter would perhaps be the most intriguing. True, he struggled at Chelsea last season, but before that he made Brighton & Hove Albion a force in the Premier League while playing attractive football.

Moyes could be worth a punt at such long odds with new betting sites. He is out of contract at West Ham United in the summer and a parting of the ways looks likely.

Moyes, who turns 61 next month, may feel the time is right to return north of the border, and Celtic could be interested in he is available.
