What a T20 World Cup it has been so far for India and for readers of our regular T20 World Cup best bets blog, who for the second time at this tournament, enjoyed a 100% success rate on our plays.

The top three are getting back amongst the runs after a bit of inconsistency earlier in the tournament, whilst Arshdeep Singh and Kuldeep Yadav are warming into their work to compliment the outstanding performances from leading bowler Jasprit Bumrah.

Now, with their place in the semi-finals almost guaranteed, they have the vital opportunity to eliminate one of their greatest threats.

Cricket betting sites have given India favouritism once again following Australia’s shock loss to Afghanistan, which has left them on the brink of elimination despite a six-game winning streak preceding it.

We’ll leave it up to our readers to determine the winner of this fixture and instead turn to three more player props that caught our eye.

The Numbers That Matter

  • India won six of the last seven H2Hs (albeit all in India)
  • The average run rate in Gros Islet during this T20WC is 8.92rpo
  • Ravindra Jadeja’s T20I averages in the Caribbean: 18 (bat) and 48 (bowl)
  • Pat Cummins returned Australia’s best figures in three of their last five games

He’s only just warming up…

The New York pitches were not to his liking, nor were they for many of his colleagues, but Virat Kohli appears to be more than relieved to get out of the USA and into more familiar territory.

Facing a couple of bowling attacks that were more to his liking, Kohli put three consecutive single digit scores behind him with 24 and 37 against Afghanistan and Bangladesh respectively, the latter of which finished just short of yet another winning tip for our followers.

But despite losing out on that occasion, we’re sticking with the long-term stats and anticipating Kohli to perform against another set of bowlers whom he has the wood over.

Despite all the talent and class that Australia’s T20I side possesses, Kohli averages an immense 102 against the six bowlers that Australia used against Bangladesh (Starc, Cummins, Hazlewood, Zampa, Maxwell and Stoinis).

We have chosen those six because we expect Agar to drop back out for Mitchell Starc here after his 0-17 against Afghanistan.

None of those six aforementioned bowlers have ever managed to dismiss Kohli in an IPL game, whilst the Aussie opening pair of Starc (0-87 from 47 balls) and Hazlewood (0-54 from 38 balls) have taken Kohli’s wicket in any T20 cricket.

That is some incredible long-term form that should give India the start they need with the bat.

Prediction: Virat Kohli 30+ runs - 1.83 @ 22Bet Sports

Hazlewood’s quiet campaign

He developed his T20 game after a few seasons in the IPL and even worked his way into the top of the ICC rankings for T20I bowlers in June 2022, but this hasn’t been the World Cup Josh Hazlewood would have dreamed of.

Perhaps Hazlewood has lost some momentum in this format after Royal Challengers Bengaluru opted not to retain him when learning he would require paternity leave during the tournament.

It appeared he would be getting back to his best when he bowled three consecutive powerplay maidens in a warm-up game during Namibia, but it has all been downhill since in terms of his wicket-taking output.

He’s still a valuable cog in the machine, even with a bowling average in the 40s, for his economy rate of 6.55rpo at this tournament is the third-best of the squad.

His inability to dismiss Kohli forms part of an unenviable bowling average of 103 in all T20s against India’s last top seven (2-207).

The odds for him to collect 0-1 wickets for a fifth time in this World Cup offered by Indian cricket betting apps is hardly eye-catching on its own, but could provide a nice boost for your same game multi.

Prediction: Josh Hazlewood under 1.5 wickets - 1.33 @ 22Bet Sports

Bumrah’s bags of wickets

Given the form he has been in throughout this World Cup, our eyes lit up when we saw that cricket bookmakers were offering better than even money for Jasprit Bumrah to take multiple wickets for what would be the fifth time in a 14-game T20I career against Australia.

Bumrah has taken 2+ wickets in seven of his last nine T20 World Cup games, including 2-13 v Bangladesh and 3-7 v Afghanistan in his last two appearances, and it’s likely he’ll  get wicket-taking opportunities with the way that David Warner and Travis Head approach the powerplay.

Also keep in mind that Australia are losing an average of 2.25 wickets per innings during the death overs at this World Cup, a period in which Bumrah is almost certain to bowl.

We place a high importance on individual matchups rather than simple player averages against teams, especially as one’s average against a team can sometimes account for performances against players no longer in action and is therefore not influential on future performances.

Against the top seven that Australia are likely to field in this match, Bumrah has career numbers of 14 wickets at an average of 16.93 and a bowling strike rate of 14.6, which if replicated, leaves him very well placed to be amongst the wickets once again.

Prediction: Jasprit Bumrah over 1.5 wickets - 2.25 @ 22Bet Sports
