Thursday's Wimbledon Predictions: The Panel's Best Bets And Tips For Day 11

Wimbledon Day 11 Best Bets

The women’s singles at Wimbledon has served up plenty of surprises so far and bettors will need to tread carefully once more in both semi-finals on Thursday.

Jasmine Paolini and Barbora Krejcikova were both underdogs for their quarter-final matches but came through in straight sets to reach the last four at the All England Club for the first time.

This is as far as Donna Vekic, Paolini’s opponent, has ever gone too. But for 2022 Wimbledon champion and the odds-on favourite to lift the Rosewater Dish, Elena Rybakina, this is familiar territory.

Tennis betting sites can’t see past the Kazakh taking home her second Grand Slam title, but in Krejcikova, she faces an opponent she's failed to defeat in two previous attempts.

The Panel have taken a close look at both semi-final matches and come up with a total of three tips.

Donna Vekic Vs Jasmine Paolini Prediction

Betting sites have been slow to catch on to Paolini’s potential as a Wimbledon champion with the Italian having still be double figures for the top prize entering her quarter-final against Emma Navarro.

The American was a heavy favourite for that clash but was blown away by the aggressive Paolini, who needed just 58 minutes to reach a second consecutive grand slam semi-final.

It’s been a whirlwind few months for the seventh seed, who made the French Open final before her storming run at SW19, a venue where she’d never won a main-draw match previously.

Now, she’s the bookies' pick to see off Vekic, who has also had a great season on grass but was far less convincing in her quarter-final win over qualifier Lulu Sun.

The New Zealander took the first set but couldn’t live with Vekic down the stretch, the Croat blasting her way through to a first-ever slam semi-final.

We are now presented with an interesting clash of styles, with Vekic a power player who will lean on her serve going up against the lightning-quick all-court talent that is Paolini.

This should be a trickier match than the odds suggest for Paolini, who hasn’t had to face too many big servers so far at Wimbledon.

When she did come up against one in Madison Keys, the match was delicately poised at 5-5 in the deciding set when Keys had to retire hurt. It’s the only match in which Paolini has dropped a set.

Vekic ranks in the top three for aces at Wimbledon, winning 80% of points on her first serve, and The Panel believe those traits will help push the game total beyond the 21.5 mark.

Paolini will back herself to break the Vekic’s serve having won more break points than anyone else in the women’s singles and is playing with such confidence that it’s tough to go against her.

We’ve seen Vekic show signs of nerves at times too and Paolini’s recent big match experience counts for a lot in this scenario.

The Panel Tip: Jasmine Paolini To Win & Over 21.5 Games Vs Donna Vekic – 2/1 With Ladbrokes

Vekic Won’t Let Faults Show

Vekic has had some wobbles at the All England Club, notably when serving to take the second set against Sun last time out.

She doubled-faulted three times to hand a game to Sun in an incident that ended up counting for half of her six double faults in that match.

Bookmakers are expecting her to be in and around that mark again for double faults with the bar being set at 5.5, but The Panel think that’s a little high.

Vekic had only previously had six or more double faults once in this run at Wimbledon, while going further back shows the over would have landed in just two of her 13 matches on grass this year.

The Panel Tip: Under 5.5 Donna Vekic Double Faults – 4/6 With Bet365

Barbora Krejcikova vs Elena Rybakina Prediction

Rybakina was mightly impressive when putting Elina Svitolina to the sword in the quarter-finals and the prices on betting apps suggest another straight sets win over Krejcikova is on the cards.

Krejcikova took out Jelena Ostapenko in the last eight having beaten one of the season's most in-form players in the previous round, Danielle Collins, both of them falling to the Czech in straight sets.

Based on her previous meetings with Rybakina, Krejcikova should be feeling confident having beaten her twice, including shortly after Rybakina had won Wimbledon in 2022.

The world number 32 is also a former Grand Slam winner having won the French Open in 2021 so shouldn't be too overawed by the occasion on Centre Court.

The big challenge for Krejcikova will be finding answers for Rybakina's excellent serve and aggressive gameplan. She won 85% of her first serve points against Svitolina and hit an impressive 28 winners.

Krejcikova has been one of the top returners at these championships though and The Panel aren't expecting her to be blown away in the early exchanges with Rybakina.

The odds make trying to side with the Kazakh pretty prohibitive, so instead, it's worth looking at Krejcikova giving her opponent problems in the first set.

Krejcikova hasn't dropped the opening set on her road to the Wimbledon semi-finals and The Panel hope she can come out of the blocks quickly against an opponent she's previously troubled.

The Panel Tip: Barbora Krejcikova +2.5 First Set Handicap Vs Elena Rybakina - 8/11 With Bet365
