Newcastle's season of mediocrity continued with a 4-2 defeat at Brentford to keep the pressure on manager Eddie Howe. 

Howe's side are now without a win in their last four games and they find themselves 12th in the table ahead of their home game with Leicester on Saturday.

Under the 48-year-old's leadership, Leipzig have positioned themselves as genuine top-four challengers this season, bringing Rose to the attention of a number of Premier League sides.

Newcastle would welcome a manager of Rose's capability and he is the 8/5 favourite to replace Howe.

Hutter Still In The Frame To Replace Howe

Adi Hutter has been one of Europe's most exciting managers in recent years, drawing comparisons to the likes of Oliver Glasner, Xabi Alonso and Thomas Tuchel with his style of play.

The 54-year-old led AS Monaco to second place in Ligue 1 last season with his attractive brand of attacking football, having initially achieved success with RB Salzburg, Eintracht Frankfurt and Borussia Monchengladbach.

It was current Toon sporting director Paul Mitchell who appointed him as AS Monaco head coach.

Mitchell is believed to be a big fan of the Austrian manager's tactical approach, so it's no surprise that Hutter's odds are 7/4 to be the Magpies' next boss.

Potter In The Pack

Graham Potter stormed up the managerial ranks after impressive spells at Swansea and Brighton.

However, he came unstuck as Chelsea boss with his tenure lasting just seven months. 

He was the Blues' first managerial appointment following Todd Boehly's takeover and oversaw a record £323m outlay in the 2023 January transfer window.

Out of work for over 18 months, Potter has taken plenty of time to reset since leaving Stamford Bridge in April 2023 and recently told The Telegraph: "I’m excited to hear what the opportunities are and I’ll take each one and judge it on its merits."
