Wednesday's Wimbledon Predictions: The Panel's Best Bets And Tips For Day Three

Wimbledon Day Three Best Bets

Day three of Wimbledon throws up several intriguing matchups in both the men’s and women’s draw.

Jannik Sinner, the favourite for the men’s crown on UK betting sites, continues his tournament against his compatriot and former finalist Matteo Berrettini in the match of the day.

Reigning champion Carlos Alcaraz is also in action against Aleksandar Vukic after easing his way through his first-round contest.

In the women’s draw, Emma Raducanu faces Elise Mertens in her bid to advance to the third round for the first time since 2021. No.2 seed Coco Cauff takes on qualifier Anca Todoni and will hope to capitalise on her impressive Grand Slam form in 2024.

The Panel looked at the form guide and statistics regarding these big-name players before making betting predictions for each match on Wednesday that can be used in a 34/1 fourfold on Betway.

Jannik Sinner Vs Matteo Berrettini Prediction

Two Italians collide at SW19 as the pre-tournament favourite for the Wimbledon crown faces his compatriot, in what could be a tough match for Sinner. Berrettini reached the final at the All England Club in 2021 before he was beaten by Novak Djokovic

Since then, Berrettini has slipped down the world rankings, although he did defeat Alexander Zverev at Wimbledon last year on his way to the fourth round.

Sinner will have to be wary, especially after dropping a set against Yannick Hanfmann in the first round. Grass is Berrettini’s best surface, winning 46 of his 58 career matches.

The 28-year-old overcame Márton Fucsovics with a strong performance, so he could provide a tough challenge for the Australian Open champion.

The Panel are expecting a Sinner victory, but the 1/5 price on tennis betting sites is not overly appealing. Instead, backing Berrettini to take one set off his compatriot for a 3-1 Sinner victory is where the Panel are heading at 5/2

Carlos Alcaraz Vs Aleksandar Vukic Prediction

The 2023 Wimbledon champion marched his way past Mark Lajal in round one, and The Panel are not expecting him to have too much trouble with Vukic in the second round given that he is the overwhelming favourite on betting apps at 1/25

Vukic played out a tense game against Sebastian Ofner. The Aussie saved a match point before closing out victory in a fifth-set tiebreaker.

He undoubtedly put a lot of energy into the game and will not relish facing Alcaraz, who had a slow start to his match against Lajal before he heated up to put the Estonian to the sword.

Alcaraz found his rhythm in the third set after having to edge out Lajal by fine margins in the early stages of the match. The way he struck the ball in the third was an ominous sign for Vukic.

The Panel are expecting a relatively straightforward win for Alcaraz in straight sets and after looking at the total games market, believe that the best bet is to take under 28.5 games at odds of 7/5

The Panel Tip: Carlos Alcaraz vs Aleksandar Vukic Under 28.5 Games – 7/5 With Betway

Emma Raducanu Vs Elise Mertens Prediction

Raducanu continued her solid form in 2024 following her comeback from injury with a straight sets win over Renata Zarazua in the first round.

It was not a dominant performance from the 21-year-old, but she delivered in the key moments to seal her place in the next phase of the tournament.

Mertens fought back from a one-set deficit to overcome Nao Hibino in her opener. The Belgian will be a tough proposition for the Brit having reached the fourth round on two occasions and won the doubles title in 2021 at the All England Club.

Raducanu is the favourite at odds of 8/15 and has recent wins over talented players such as Jess Pegula under her belt, but Mertens’ experience could cause issues that will take the match the distance.

For that reason, The Panel are backing over 2.5 sets at 29/20

The Panel Tip: Emma Raducanu vs Elise Mertens Over 2.5 Sets – 29/20 With BetMGM

Coco Gauff Vs Anca Todoni Prediction

Gauff sent out a statement in her Wimbledon opener by dropping only three games in her win over Caroline Dolehide.

The American has been in irrepressible form since winning her maiden Grand Slam crown at the US Open, reaching back-to-back semi-finals in the first two major events of 2024.

However, Wimbledon has not been a happy venue for Gauff, progressing only as far as the fourth round.

The world No.2 faces a player ranked 143 spots below her in the rankings in the form of qualifier Todoni, who eased her way into the second round with a win over Olga Danilovic in her first Grand Slam appearance.

The Romanian played well in her victory, but will face a daunting challenge against one of the best players in the world.

The Panel are expecting another straightforward win for Gauff and are backing her on a –6.5 game handicap at 10/11 that pays out if her tally is seven games or more clear of Todoni’s.

The Panel Tip: Coco Gauff –6.5 Game Handicap Vs Anca Todoni – 10/11 With Ladbrokes
