New York Yankees vs Chicago White Sox (O/U 9.5, ML -310 Yankees)
The New York Yankees won another series at home over the weekend, making it six victories in their last 10 games.
Now the Yankees set out on the road and play the Chicago White Sox, who have the worst record in baseball and are 1-9 in their last 10 and 17-42 at home.
New York rolls in with the best record on the road in 2024 at 38-22 though they did struggle a bit versus the Los Angeles Angels last week, but the good news news is that Luis Gil starts for the Yankees while rookie Ky Bush takes the mound for the White Sox.
Bush's opening start saw him pitch four innings and allow three runs, walking five batters and threw 39 balls on 84 pitches and wildness like that could get the young pitcher in lots of trouble.
Luis Gil and the Yankees are now tied for first place in the American League East with Baltimore at 70-49. Every game counts.
Gil has also been a little wild lately, with eight walks in his last two outings. Those contests were against the Dodgers and Phillies, so expect more work from the Yankees bullpen, which could keep things close.
Chicago has lost ATS in 11 of its previous 14 so expect New York to make that 12 of 15 on Monday.
The Panel Pick 1: New York Yankees -1.5 Runs - Draftkings -185
Los Angeles Dodgers vs Milwaukee Brewers (O/U 8, ML -110, Even)
These two first-place teams are dead even on the Moneyline with the Dodgers coming off a sweep and Milwaukee a series win but a narrow loss to Cincinnati on Sunday.
The big question is, who gets the jump in this big series? Clayton Kershaw gets to pitch on the road as he tries to round into some kind of good form. In three starts this 2024, Kershaw has two losses and no wins with a 4.38 ERA.
We're really not sure what to make of Kershaw just yet. He is not striking out batters at quite the rate he used to early on while the 36-year-old is averaging a mere four innings per start.
So, can Milwaukee take advantage of a vulnerable pitcher?
Freddy Peralta has been up and down at home this season for the Brewers but pitched well at home against Atlanta recently, allowing two runs in six innings and the fact that Los Angeles is coming halfway across the country may help.
Our pick here is to take Milwaukee on the Moneyline in this exciting opener on Monday night.
The Panel Pick 2: Milwaukee Brewers to win - BetMGM -110
Atlanta Braves vs San Francisco Giants (O/U 7.0, ML -110, Even)
The San Francisco Giants and Atlanta Braves open a three-game series on Monday from San Francisco with Blake Snell taking the mound for the Giants, while Chris Sale starts for the Braves.
The concern with this game is the total with one or two sportsbooks briefly going as low as 6.5 for this late Monday night contest.
That caused a considerable pause as bettors might be tempted to move up to 7.5 total runs for plus money on betting apps.
So, who has been a little cold of late? That would be Chris Sale.
While he is still striking out batters at an excellent clip, Sale is not pitching as long in games as he was earlier in the season and has lasted less than six innings in four of his previous five outings.
Both teams could score here and Sale may have to throw too many pitches to get outs.
The Under 17.5 Outs was moved to 18.5 with baseball betting sites but we're going to play it safe.
Another option may be the Over 1.5 walks (-135) as Sale has also walked two or more batters in four of his last five starts.
The Panel Pick 3: Chris Sale Under 18.5 Outs - FanDuel -210
