MLB Tips & Odds: The Panel's Picks And Best Bets For Thursday, July 25

Our Major League Baseball Game Picks:

With the Olympics getting underway, The Panel takes a bit of a different approach for the next few weeks.

Major League Baseball bettors can get some early picks in as we focus on the afternoon games and the best news is that there is a more manageable schedule on Thursday.

There are only two games on Thursday night with the early games starting around 12pm ET and end with a 4:10 pm “Battle Of California.”

The Panel have looked at all the stats, data and key players ahead of Thursday's Major League Baseball schedule to bring you these three predictions with sports betting sites.

San Diego Padres vs Washington Nationals (O/U 8.5, ML -180 Padres)

The San Diego Padres are getting on a roll at the right time. Playing the Washington Nationals is helping that, along with some offensive outbursts.

A 12-3 offensive demolition on Wednesday night leaves the Padres on the verge of a sweep. Can San Diego finish what they started?

Dylan Cease has been very good all season. Aside from some hard luck, Cease is 9-8 on the season with 159 strikeouts in 122+ innings.

Add in a 3.76 ERA and four quality starts in his last five outings, and Cease has a huge potential to garner another win on Thursday afternoon in Washington.

More good news is that San Diego are 28-22 on the road, including four wins in a row. Washington are 23-26 at home and seem to falter in what should be more friendly confines.

That benefits bettors, in a sense. Obviously, Patrick Corbin is back to a normal schedule after his excellent start on the 19th.

The Padres will face a 2-9 pitcher who is due for another regression. San Diego hitters will not expect many swinging strikes.

Yes, San Diego seem more disciplined on the road than at home. The chances they win by more than a run are pretty high.

We take on the 1.5-run spread one more time on betting apps and go with the Padres this Thursday afternoon.

Chicago White Sox vs Texas Rangers (O/U 8, ML -275, Rangers)

Chicago will face Max Scherzer on Thursday afternoon and the Texas starter did not have the best outings against Baltimore last time out.

He gave up four runs and five hits in two innings and is currently 1-3 in six starts during this 2024 campaign.

Texas face Jonathan Cannon, who is literally a 3+ run outing waiting to happen, something thst has occurred four out of the past five starts.

Cannon does not quite have the movement to draw out enough swinging strikes and Chicago have only managed to score five runs in two games in Texas this week.

So does the notion that Chicago may be in trouble as another loss looms ring true? The answer is yes. Worse, runs are hard to come by, and the Under on Chicago runs may be a viable option for bettors.

Our pick here is to take the Chicago White Sox to score two or fewer runs.

The Panel Pick 2: Chicago White Sox Under 2.5 Runs  - BetMGM +125

San Francisco Giants vs Los Angeles Dodgers (O/U 8.5, ML -145, Dodgers)

The San Francisco Giants and Los Angeles Dodgers complete their four-game series on Thursday from Los Angeles.

Logan Webb takes the mound for the Giants, while Clayton Kershaw returns and starts for the Dodgers.

The Dodgers want to win the series and the Giants have lost eight of their past 11 contests, so could this be one of those games that goes completely unnoticed?

Kershaw is making his season debut for Los Angeles. He may be rusty, whereas Webb will not be.

The Panel think it's worth considering the out props here, with baseball betting sites, as Kershaw will be on a limit of sorts when it comes to pitch count.

Expect him to go fewer than five innings and the Giants to gain an early lead on Thursday afternoon in Los Angeles.
