Betting Odds on Tom Brady's Next Team: Does He Stay or Go?
Moments after falling to the Dallas Cowboys 31-14 in the wild-card round of the NFL playoffs, Tom Brady remained coy about his future. The 46-year-old Tampa Bay quarterback reiterated he will take his time during the offseason to determine his playing status going forward.
“I’m gonna go home and get a good night’s sleep, as good as I can tonight,” Brady said. “This has been all I’ve focused on— this game. It’ll just be one day at a time. Truly.”
Brady added he does not have a timetable for making a decision on whether to come back for his 24th season. His contract with Tampa Bay is expiring and a “no-tag” clause means the Buccanneers cannot franchise-tag Brady. He is set to become an unrestricted free agent and is free to sign with any team.
But whether or not Brady returns to the NFL, the way he ended his postgame interview may have pointed to him understanding his career in Tampa Bay might be over. Brady made it a point to thank the local media for their time together.
“I just want to thank you guys for everything you did this year,” he said. “I really appreciate all your effort. I know it’s hard for you guys; I know it’s hard for us players to make it through.
“You guys got a tough job, and I appreciate all you guys do to cover us, and everyone who watches and is a big fan of the sport. I love this organization. It’s a great place to be.”
Ian Rapoport Says Teams Interested in Brady
On Sunday, NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport noted three teams remain interested in Brady’s services if he elects to return for the 2023-24 season.
“He’ll be 46 years old and I would say there’s a chance that he does not return to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers despite the fact that they very much want him back and plan to make efforts toward that," Rapoport said during NFL GameDay. "Among the teams that would consider Brady, a couple of them considered Brady last time.
"The Tennessee Titans still have some quarterback questions. The (San Francisco) 49ers if they do not decide to roll with Brock Purdy, although he’s certainly stating his case, and then the Las Vegas Raiders, who have several of his old friends, including Josh McDaniels.”
