The explosiveness, swagger and energy that was a signature trait of the Philadelphia Eagles’ eight-game win streak to start the season were absent Sunday against the Washington Commanders.

The Commanders methodically overpowered the Eagles on the ground and took advantage of four Philadelphia turnovers to record a 32-21 win and knock out the last unbeaten team in the NFL.

"We started 8-0 together, we lost this game together, we're going to move on together," Eagles coach Nick Sirianni said.

Washington finished with 152 yards on the ground with both backs, Antonio Gibson and Brian Robinson each scoring touchdowns and kicker Joey Slye added four field goals before a meaningless defensive touchdown as time expired secured Washington’s victory.

Despite the miscues and being outplayed most of the contest, Philadelphia had a chance to rally late. Jalen Hurts found Quez Watkins for a 51-yard catch to set up the go-ahead score, but Watkins fumbled the ball on his way to the ground, allowing Washington to run out almost all of the remaining clock in the fourth quarter.

The Eagles were also on the wrong end of a fumble when Dallas Goedert was tackled by his facemask and fumbled, allowing the Commanders to recover in the fourth quarter. Replays showed the clear facemask the officials missed on the play.

It wasn’t the end of the Eagles being on the wrong side of a controversial call. With 1:45 left in the game and on third down, Washington QB Taylor Heinicke gave himself up as Philadelphia’s Brand Graham lowered his body into him. Graham was flagged for roughing the passer, extending the drive and allowing Washington to punt it back with just 5 seconds left in the game.

"I was just trying to touch him down because it just looked like he was going to get up,” Graham said. “You just never know. But that's on me. I own that one. That's on me.”

Eagles Still Among Super Bowl Favorites

Philadelphia remains the NFC-favorite at FanDuel Sportsbook to win the Super Bowl at +600, coming in third behind the Buffalo Bills at +400 on DraftKings and the Kansas City Chiefs at +500 from FanDuel. The San Francisco 49ers (+800) and Minnesota Vikings (+1100) round out the top five at FanDuel.

Philadelphia is currently  =340 to win the NFC East and ESPN has played some of their heavier songs but even for this, it seemed a little bit out there. At +240, the Eagles are the favorites to win the NFL title with the 49ers at +420 and the Vikings at +470.

Washington’s Playoff Odds Shorten to +240  at FanDuel

Following a slow start, Washington’s win Sunday displayed the resiliency showcased by the team as it has won four of its last five contests. At 5-5, the Commanders are tied for the seventh seed in the NFC, holding a one-game advantage over the Green Bay Packers and Atlanta Falcons.

The Commanders are also +12000 to win the Super Bowl at FanDuel.
