When the transfer window opened it was hard to find odds on who Mykhailo Mudryk would join at the end of the January because there only seemed to be one show in town.

However, betting sites have recognised that there is now a genuine race for his signature.

Shakhtar Donetsk are willing to cash in on the Ukraine international this month, but they are driving a hard bargain as they attempt to extract the biggest possible fee.

Where will Mudryk be plying his trade in a month’s time? Check out the latest odds below, then read our thoughts on the various potential destinations.

Arsenal Still At Front Of Queue For Forward

Arsenal were first linked with Mudryk in the summer, after which his exploits in the group stage of the Champions League added a few more millions to his price tag.

The Gunners were always likely to renew their interest in the 22-year-old in the winter window, but the injury to Gabriel Jesus in December gave them another reason to step up their efforts.

So far, though, Arsenal have been frustrated by Shakhtar, who have turned down bids of £57m and £62m from the Premier League leaders.

That has cast doubt on Mudryk’s future. While Mikel Arteta’s men are still the 8/11 favourites with football betting sites, but this is no longer seen as a one-horse race.

If he is adamant he wants the winger, Arteta might need to plead with his superiors to release more money into the transfer kitty.

Chelsea Could Be Set To Launch Their Own Bid

Reports recently suggest Chelsea are right in the race for Mudryk, with the Blues now a 2/1 shot of completing a deal.

That would represent a remarkable turnaround given the player’s stated preference to move to the Emirates Stadium, but stranger things have happened in the world of football transfers.

Chelsea were the biggest-spending club in Europe last summer and they look set to splash more cash this month, with Joao Felix seemingly on the way to join them

Currently struggling in the race for the Premier League’s top four spots, co-owner Todd Boehly is set to back the under-fire Graham Potter by bringing in two or three players in January.

Given how insipid Chelsea have been in attack this season, it is no surprise that they are considering a swoop for one of the most talented young forwards on the continent.

Manchester United Could Be Priced Out Of Deal

Man Utd are on the lookout for reinforcements this month and Mudryk might just be the man to fit the bill.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure by mutual consent in November has left Erik ten Hag short of numbers at the top of the pitch, notwithstanding the recent emergence of Alejandro Garnacho.

However, United are in the market for a central striker rather than another wide forward like Mudryk.

That is one reason why they are only available at 10/1 with Paddy Power to land the 22-year-old from Shakhtar. Another is the lack of funds United have to spend in the coming weeks.

Having gone over their allotted budget in the summer, the Red Devils are looking for a bargain buy and Mudryk does not fit into that category.

Real Madrid Not Currently In Race For Mudryk

Real Madrid are available at 14/1 with Betfair, but it is hard to see Mudryk joining the Spanish giants in this window.

As the biggest club on the planet, it is hard for Madrid to go under the radar in their transfer dealings.

If the European champions were plotting a swoop for the Ukrainian, we would know about it already.

Madrid witnessed the player’s ability up close in the Champions League group stage, and they have been linked with him in recent months.

Right now though, there is no sign that Carlo Ancelotti’s side are in the race.

However, the man himself has expressed doubts about joining a club like Madrid where he would be unlikely to start week in, week out.

Newcastle And Manchester City Among The Outsiders

Newcastle are priced at 16/1 by betting apps , but the Magpies do not look to be weighing up a move for Mudryk.

Eddie Howe has already conceded that the northeast outfit are unlikely to be too active in the market this month, and even if they do bring in one or two new faces Mudryk is unlikely to be among them.

Bayern Munich are at 25/1, but they can’t really compete financially with the likes of Chelsea.

Manchester City can be backed at 33/1, but they too appear to be sitting this one out.

Meanwhile, Everton are a curious inclusion at 33/1 when you consider they are in genuine fight against Premier League relegation, something which is presumably not on Mudryk’s agenda.
