Daily Fantasy NFL Picks: Week 1 Wide Receivers and Tightends
NFL regular season is upon us and that means NFL Daily Fantasy is right around the corner. Continuing down the top QBs and RBs, we've got 5 wide outs and 3 tight ends to consider for your daily fantasy teams during Week 1 of the NFL season.
Week 1 Wide Receiver Picks
Keenan Allen vs Kansas City
Available at $7,500 with DraftKings or $8,000 with FanDuel.
The Kansas City secondary was abysmal last year and they’re in the middle of an overhaul. Keenan Allen is one of the best WRs in the country in a pass-heavy attack, he should have a field day against the Chiefs. The fact he gets so many targets means that he’ll be a tad more powerful in DraftKings’ full PPR format, but he should bag a good enough game to be worth drafting in any format.
DeAndre Hopkins @ New England
Available at $8,300 with DraftKings or $8,800 with FanDuel.
Hopkins is a truly elite receiver, he’s been phenomenal every year despite rarely having an upper tier QB throwing to him. Now he’s got Deshaun Watson back - who is an upper tier QB – and he’s playing against a New England secondary that’s got completely exposed in the Super Bowl. The mystique of the Pats is gone, teams know that passing is the way to go against them. Watson and Hopkins should be able to do just that in Week 1.
AJ Green @ Indianapolis
Available at $7,300 with DraftKings or $8,400 with FanDuel.
There aren’t many that would call AJ Green an elite receiver, but he consistently puts up some of the best numbers in the league. Andy Dalton also continues to be steady, so that partnership is alive and well. First week of the season, they’ll be facing an inexperienced Colts secondary that is likely to make some serious errors. AJ Green should be capable of taking advantage of that inexperience to deliver a big game.
Juju Smith-Schuster @ Cleveland
Available at $5,900 with DraftKings or $7,000 with FanDuel.
We could go with Antonio Brown, but Juju feels like the better value option. As good as Brown is, Juju’s volume has been increasing. Last time he played Cleveland, he reeled in 9 receptions for 143 yards. Sure, it was last year, but he’s been looking good during his limited time in the preseason. Only a rookie last year, he’s likely going to start eating into Brown’s stats and it’ll likely start in the season opener.
Devin Funchess vs Dallas
Available at $5,200 with DraftKings or $6,400 with FanDuel.
Your proper value pick of the week. The Dallas secondary got absolutely gutted this offseason. That doesn’t mean they’re bad, but they’re definitely inexperienced. Funchess, on the other hand, separated himself from the pack at Carolina last year, and his size makes him hard to cover. This isn’t the most pass-happy attack of all time, but Funchess should be a solid red-zone threat going into week one.

Week 1 Tight End Picks
Rob Gronkowski vs Houston
Available at $6,900 with DraftKings or $7,900 with FanDuel.
Is there ever a bad time to pick Gronk? He’s long been one of Brady’s favorite targets and he’s nigh uncoverable. With the departure of Brandin Cooks and Danny Amendola, Gronk’s targets should only rise. There’s really not much else to say, Gronk remains an elite fantasy option in any format, daily or league.
Greg Olsen vs Dallas
Available at $5,400 with DraftKings or $6,300 with FanDuel.
We’ve already talked about the Dallas secondary, let’s talk more about Cam Newton’s targets. Olsen looks healthy again and looking good in preseason. His 2017-2018 season was thrown off by injury, but his game vs New Orleans showed why he’s worth picking up. He’ll be playing against a young Dallas secondary, so the veteran should be able to make some things happen.
Delanie Walker @ Miami
Available at $4,900 with DraftKings or $6,100 with FanDuel.
The biggest question is if Walker will be ready to go week 1. He should be, so he’ll be worth a look. Walker sits below your average salary per player, but he has the ability to deliver excellent numbers. The big thing here is the matchup: Miami was dead last in defending TEs last season. They could improve, but it’ll be trial by fire to keep Walker contained and it seems unlikely they’ll be able to.
